Over the past couple of years Eastbourne Borough and Lewes District have come together creating a progressive partnership: two sovereign councils each with a unique identity and a shared vision of the future. Through joining our workforce and fostering a modern, collaborative culture, we are serving our residents in a more customer focussed and cost-effective way.
Both councils need to make significant savings in the coming years, and the move to create a single officer team providing services across both councils, will certainly contribute to realising those savings. But so too will strong and visionary financial leadership. We are looking for a Chief Financial Officer (S151) who as well as being able to ensure the smooth operational running of a finance function, can think strategically and shape the financial strategies of both councils.
Both councils have been entrepreneurial and innovative in their approach to financial sustainability and there are a variety of commercial services and traded companies. From a Sustainability Procurement Framework Joint Venture, to an Independent Living service company, to three housing delivery companies, we have a range of interests, with unique governance arrangements, to consider both strategically and commercially.
Working in a fun, supportive and collaborative corporate management team, you will bring a track record of success in a senior public sector finance role, a commercial approach, credibility and an openness to innovative ways of delivering services and generating income.
